On this long road towards a world free of gasoline, hybrid cars powered by hydrogen, natural gas, electricity, diesel and bioethanol are gaining ground. There are promising options ahead, though not all of them are viable, either due to their high price tag or because their distribution outlets at alternative fuel stations are difficult to find.
These vehicles operate successfully in the main cities around the world and with a noticeably reduced pollution level. They feature two engines: one with an electric battery and the other an internal combustion engine, which alternate as needed. Whenever the electric one is off-line, the battery is charged.
